Scarteen Short Format Event

A fine day and a challenging but fair track met those who made the journey to Scarteen for what was billed as the perfect warm-up for the upcoming Pony Club Horse Trials series.

This was the second Short Format event to be held at Scarteen and the format looks to be going down well with competitors with riders performing a standard P.C. Dressage test followed by a derby jumping round. As well as attempting to keep the fences intact, riders were aware of the Style mark (max. 20) which was awarded by renowned P.C. instructor Jill Moran.

Sole Members competitor Leo Dooley from the Warrington Branch picked up no penalties in the jumping phase and completed on a score of 154pts.

The Intermediate class was hotly contested but problems for dressage leader Siobhán Schous in the jumping phase dropped her into second place with Cahir based Emma Meaghar taking the top position for the Tipperary Hunt Branch with “Clonmore CC”.

Eophan Robson and “Lily Ma’chello” from the Clare branch impressed the judges to take  pole position in the Junior section, ahead of fellow Clare member Maebh Jacob with her own “Jimmy”.
