McKinlaigh

We were very saddened to learn that the great McKinlaigh has passed away in California at the age of 26.

Born on May 5, 1994, McKinlaigh (ISH)(TIH) was purchased by Chris and Sue as a 3 year old at Goresbridge and produced at Scarteen before being spotted competing in a 5YO Young Event Horse class at Punchestown by Thom Schulz and Laura Coates. The son of Highland King headed for California in the summer of 1999 where Gina Miles took the ride.

Over the course of an FEI career that spanned just six years, McKinlaigh notched up 5 wins at CCI4* (formerly CCI3*) level, top 15 placings at Kentucky and Badminton, a Bronze medal at the Pan-American Games in 2007 and most notably took the individual silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Throughout his career, McKinlaigh never once had a cross country jumping penalty. He was inducted into the USEA Hall of Fame in 2015.

Ride on, McKinlaigh.
